Arthur Dunnam

Arthur DunhamArthur Dunnam was named design director of Jed Johnson Associates in 1997 having joined the firm more than a decade earlier. For six years prior, he had honed his skills in the company founded by the legendary decorator Billy Baldwin. As design director, his projects embrace a broad array of styles and periods. “While my design philosophy is rooted in informed historical perspective, I like to keep it crisp, clean, and above all, comfortable,” he says. “I am drawn to the interplay of the best of the past infused with the quiet restraint, and often, sculptural quality of twentieth-century furnishings.”

“Arthur designs the kind of timeless spaces that never go out of style because they are not based in trends of the moment,” says Jay Johnson. “His rooms look undecorated as though they had magically always existed.” He continues: “In addition to his artistic talents, his clients also appreciate the fact that he never forgets that one of his primary functions is to make the whole process smooth.”

Arthur Dunnam’s prolific work has been documented in a number of design books and shelter magazines including Architectural Digest, House Beautiful, House & Garden and Metropolitan Home.
